MSI Wind U135 hands-on

MSI has started showing off its first Netbook with Intel Atom N450 processor. Earlier today, the company put the MSI Wind U135, and this afternoon, Laptop Magazine and Engadget, both published the first hands-on deals with the netbook.

The short version? It looks good and works almost exactly like the Asus Eee PC 1005PE with the same processor. It looks a lot like the latest model from Asus, thanks to a similar keyboard and touchpad design. But Laptop Magazine reports that it is only about half the battery life.

Of course, 5.5 hours of battery life is not bad for any notebook. But raising the Asus Eee PC 1005PE the bar with 10 + hours runtime netbook buyers are likely to begin soon expect more.

On the positive side, the MSI Wind U135 will be about $ 50 cheaper than the Asus netbook, only 329 $.

You are already famous for their quality smartphone, and with a quality Netbook on the mobile community, they could make a reasonable profit. Amir continues to say: “In view of this market is dominated by the PC players, we believe Nokia could be a tough battle to succeed in this market.”

With the new partnership with Intel, Nokia has many unique ways to build a Netbook. Intel, Dell Fight for Freedom of the Word 'Netbook'

The companies do, the battle against PC manufacturer Psion Teklogix, which claims exclusive ownership of the term, because one of his former mini-computer models was Netbook.

“This action arises from the recent allegations of [Psion] that it has the exclusive right to use the term” Netbook “,” The 13-page declaration reads [pdf]. “It is not an option. Consumer has already” Netbook “as a generic term for a category of notebook computers that are small, inexpensive and less computing power, so that they are ideal for connecting to the Internet (or” net “).”

Some Netbook-focused publications reported in December, will receive no more-and-desist letters from Psion in December, asking them to avoid any reference to the word “Netbook”.

“We note that you recently with the word Psion Netbook without the consent”, a letter read by Psion. “Psion places significant value on the trade mark registrations, and your use of the term” Netbook “could harm these entries.”

Then Dell last week a request to cancel the trademark Psion, with the argument that the word Netbook has become a generic term. Dell added that Psion has abandoned the concept, as Netbook line of computers will be set. And Dell is committed Psion alleges fraud by claiming damage to his activity, even if they do not sell computers with this name. Intel’s follow-up reinforces Dell complaint allegations.

Intel wades into war over netbook trademark

February 25th, 2009

The war, who owns the word Netbook seems to be H ting.

A few weeks back we reported on how Google has been banning the use of the term in its advertising. Dell then amplified in the confrontation with a six-page application for cancellation of the mark.

It was something like a miracle that we have not heard much from Intel on the subject – the company released Netbook uses the term when it comes to the Atom processors. Intel wades into war over netbook trademarkHowever, the chip maker has finally waded in, saying that the term is now generally by the public to describe, mini-notebooks. More legal wranglings safety after cutting.

Intel also noted that the use of the word Netbook does not infringe any rights and Psion, that does not have exclusive rights.

It seems a little odd that Psion caused such a stir, especially since the company did not actually manufacture its devices Netbook no more, and has not done since 2003.
