Gateway EC14D07u Notebook Review

The Gateway uses an Intel Pentium EC14D07u SU4100 processor, LED 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, and a 11.6-inch HD screen with backlight. The machine has a 6-cell lithium-ion battery. The notebook has Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, three USB ports and an 8x DVD drive. The notebook retails for $ 629 and get the full specifications of the machine here.

I will test the Gateway notebook EC14D07u with my iTunes encoding test, Windows Media Encoder and Battery Eater Pro. The first test is to Battery Eater Pro. The gateway EC14D07u lasted 212 minutes without power-saving and options on the screen at 100% brightness. Your results may vary in the real world.

The screen is very glossy, which means a lot of glare in bright rooms. The glossy screen ensures good color and video playback when playing online videos or DVDs, thanks to the internal optical drive. The optical drive is something you do not often found on laptops in the 11.6-inch range and is a very nice feature.

The little computer has an average sound system with weak bass and decent mids. The speakers are good enough to listen to your video when you are close to the machine, but also for music or movie just be a lot of decent headphones or external speakers want.

Google chart shows which netbooks run Chrome OS best

You can not go and buy a machine with Google Chrome OS only – and you would not want anyway, because it is still in the very, very early stages of development. However, if you’re afraid to try out Chrome OS, but not in the compilation of source code and crafts in a Linux terminal window, Google has posted a chart that may be of interest.

The graphic detail, the systems were “officially” tested by the developers, and shows what hardware works and what does not. Some models are listed, but I’ve simplified things a bit. Below are models on which everything works – 802.11 wireless, Ethernet, touch pad, and suspend resume.

Verizon Wireless to launch Gateway LT2106u Netbook

Verizon Wireless is expanding its wireless 3G network with the release of LT2106u Gateway netbook. The notebook will be activated to provide 3G broadband connection with basic functions at a reduced price.

The netbook is based on the Intel Atom N270 1.60 GHz processor with 1 GB of DDR2 RAM and a 160GB hard drive. It is a 10.1-inch display with LED-backlit 1024 x 600 screen resolution. Connection options including Wi-Fi and 3G data services. There are three USB ports, Ethernet and a 3-in-1 card reader on board. It comes with Windows XP operating system.

The batteries supplied to the production of up to 6 hours run time. The netbook will be available for retail in early October.

This is just a quick update to confirm that the sale of the Verizon gateway LT2016u netbook from Sunday, 4 Begin October. Earlier this week, caught a document leaked to Engadget with all the details. But Verizon went and did it today with an official press release.

The gateway is basically a renamed LT2016u Acer Aspire One D250. The notebook has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard dive, and a 6-cell battery. It runs Windows XP Home and has 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and 3G modem for connecting to Verizon Wireless Broadband service.
