I was in the market looking for a netbook for more than a year. I have many hours pouring over an on-line reviews, watching youtube unboxing and reviews, and actually do a lot of hands on retail with all the options out there. I am thrilled to say that after only 24 hours with the Toshiba NB305-N410WH, I know that I am just waiting for the right thing.

The evaluations made for its’ predecessor (NB205) found that netbook on the top of most professional reviewers list. And in fact in my own hands to test it was right on top as well. My biggest concern was that the battery back to this model stood out. I had come close in view of this drawback, as I so happy with the rest of the model. What makes me, it was a matter of a few reviews I was pointing out that sometimes streaming video would skip or get stuck (a universal concern on most netbooks read) either due to processor or graphics.

Here is why I LOVE this little guy:

* The battery problem was fully addressed and improved, in fact. They have designed it new and not ugly jutting bulge of the battery from the back. Plus, they now say it has a 11-hour battery. My experiment this gave me about 9.5 hours doing simple browsing and setup. Not quite 11 hours, but I am still elated with 9.5 hours. I can really feel good about leaving the power cord at home for the day. (although the power cord is actaully pretty small) (update 1 21 10-In a further test of battery life, I now seem more like an average of 7 hours under heavy usage, watch video and is in constant use. I am more than happy with it . you get more use of light as the 9.5 hours that I mentioned.)

* I am very pleased with the performance. Everyone needs to point out that netbooks are never designed for processor intensive tasks always, but this little guy rocks! The new “Pinetrail” Atom N450 platform seems to be ideal for this netbook. The graphics engine will be updated as well. I have had absolutely no delays in any streaming video on YouTube or Netflix. (I noticed only a bit of stuttering in Hulu only if just a little full but that’s no problem for me.) Browsing is snappy and responsive, just the way I like it. For everyone who likes to be the NB305 been on the fence about a netbook, because they were worried it might not be able to carry, hop off the fence and get right. Seriously, I have a MacBook Pro and Dell laptop and charge immediately to my “to go” for surfing on the couch or out of bed. And I know this is the one I now carry everywhere in the house.

* The general look and feel of the NB305 is truly “best in class”. My big gripe with a ton of netbooks out there is their glossy covers mainly the black, but other color covers are glossy fingerprint magnets. It just keeps getting smeared “look and feel cheap to me. I have the white model and structured just love it. Even though I’m sure it’s all plastic, too, sees only more expensive. The cover comes completely fingerprints and just “feel good”. The keyboard and the trackpad has received universal love in the previous model, and I agree completely. The keyboard is extremely easy to type on. No problems for me exists. The trackpad is really a selling point, as it is multi-touch. I have this on my MacBook Pro and LOVE it on this netbook. I love to be able to the 2 finger upward and sideways. It really makes surfing the web a pleasure. I (now my curse for Dell, in fact after this.) This model reduces the weight by 2.6 kilograms, it makes it super easy to take. The soil is a bit of heat, but I have never felt uncomfortable it directly on my lap. This new model is to look slimmer than previous models, a little more streamlined in the foreground. Overall, a great form factor gets A+.
