Samsung NC10 Netbook Review
Samsung NC10 is not just a Netbook – it’s a number of interesting possibilities. It scores a few points with a good screen, great battery life and key size appropriate for human hands. However, before we rip into this review, you should note that there is a better, more satisfying model – the Samsung N110 – even on stage.
Back to the netbook on hand. When I hung up the hands of the NC10, was my gut feeling that it seemed a lot like the original Lenovo IdeaPad S10. Measuring 10.3 by 7.3 by 1.5 inches and a weight of 2.9 pounds, it has similar and a similar layout to that machine. And it has a similar price – it costs about $ 440. But after shaking off that creeping sense of deja vu, I was love – and hate – the NC10 for a number of reasons.
Let’s start with the positive now remain. The matte screen is an unusual choice, but the 10.1-inch, 1024 x 600-pixel panel works quite well in all sorts of lighting conditions. It is also quite bright, because, as matte displays do not do pop as well as glossy screens.

The buttons are good, too, and give the company a bit fixed key as you press down, the experience, again remember what you on the S10. Without additional shortcut keys (like the S10), there is an elegant, yet somewhat ordinary netbook. It is a matter of personal taste, of course. I happen to think that the HP Mini 1000, for example, enables a better use of space, with its broad, flat keyboard.
Where it is really starting to the south when you try to use the NC10’s touchpad. The touchpad surface is relatively straightforward, but the second press release the mouse button, feels the matter is not how it’s going to fall apart. You need the one-button-bar down below the surface for the press and push-to-register, press the left side of the bar, we say, and the right side of the rod on projects. I would be more than a little let down when I saw that happen on my new netbook – it makes the engine feel a little tacky in general. I accuse the boxy design: The layout makes more difficult mousing effect. Design should not get in the way of navigation.
Otherwise, this machine you will get the standard output range of functions, namely, an SD card reader, three USB 2.0 ports, VGA, Ethernet, 802.11b g Wi-Fi, headphone and microphone and webcam. Do not forget the tinny speaker – too often on netbooks. It also packs a 160GB hard drive.

Like other netbooks, the NC10 is no speed demon: The 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU and 1GB of RAM, it has helped to bolster our WorldBench 6 tests about as successful as the first batch of Netbooks with the same processor. He scored a 35, landing in the middle of the pack. Where they do not shine, though, was battery life, as she hung on for almost 7 hours before he made. It is considered one of the brighter parts of this netbook.
The best properties are found in the software package. The handy, Samsung Recovery Solution III, backup and system restore utility itself raises a number of proposals regarding the possible causes of the problems of your computer by using a recommended course of back-up measures to solve the problem. Easy Network Manager allows you to connect quickly and easily connect to networks, it is a useless piece of software for all remote smart enough, but it makes a pretty face on the default Windows XP option. I even like the well commented and easily navigable digital maps manual. I’m not kidding – I wish every netbook came prepared for this battle.
