Wyse reinvents the Atom based netbook as a thin client
In recent years, a lot of people have netbooks as “underpowered” laptops, thanks to the relatively slow Intel Atom processor means in most netbooks. While the majority of netbooks have users realized that the atom processor is good enough for everyday tasks like surfing the Internet and edit documents, Wyse Technology is taking a different approach with its new X90cw mini-laptop.
The Wyse x90cw is a 11.6 inches notebook with a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor and a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixel display. It weighs 3.2 kilograms and runs up to 8 hours on a charge. The laptop supports 802.11b/g/n WiFi, LAN and Bluetooth. There is also a 3G option.
But what really sets it apart from the crowd is that the Wyse laptop with software that allows them to act as a remote terminal to the one loaded. In other words, it provides a quick and easy way to access all applications on the computer at work, while you’re away. You do not need a super-powerful processor in a notebook because it can be your PC or server in the office handling all the hardcore number crunching.
The Wyse X90cw is reportedly for around $ 699, which is a bit more expensive at a time when you can pick any number of laptops with similar hardware seems to sell for less than half that price. But you do not necessarily receive support virtualization of Wyse. And, says the company’s website to “call for price”, so it’s possible you can own a better deal if you are ordering a number of these machines to your job.
