ViewSonic on Monday stepped into a new category for the company in North America with its VNB102 Viewbook. The 10.1-inch Netbook will be a 1024×600 panel with LED backlight, but is one of the relatively few netbooks so far with Windows 7 launch Starter Edition. Like other netbooks, there is a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom CPU and 1 GB of internal memory, along with a 160 GB hard drive.
Otherwise, the built-in Wi-Fi connection exists, and users can connect to external displays, thanks to a VGA output. A 3-are integrated in-1 card reader and three USB ports. The standard six-cell battery is up to six hours of life.
The VNB102 ships on 18 December. ViewSonic promises to bring Viewbook other models beginning in 2010.
