ITU approves standard cellphone charger

A new Universal Charging Solution (UCS) was approved by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a division of the United Nations, according to a report Thursday. The energy efficient cell phone charger is compatible with all mobile phones regardless of brand and model, with certain unnamed manufacturers already include the standard in their products, says the ITU. Other than the energy savings, the new loaders to remove the waste as the charger can be updated as new phones and will be thrown out earlier maintained.
Although no details are known about the technical specifications of the device, Nokia and Sony Ericsson major mobile phone manufacturers are known to be a partner in the venture. The UCS is expected to appear in the European mobile phones starting sometime in 2010.
Whether it be similar or identical to the European designed with one of the GSM Association, is unknown, but probably, like Nokia and Sony Ericsson are also working on this solution. Other partners include phone makers LG, Motorola and Samsung, along with airlines, which include AT u0026 T, KTF, Telefonica, T-Mobile and Vodafone. This standard would depend on a micro-USB connector, and is expected to be adopted until 2012.
