Nokia to Enter Laptop Market with Booklet 3G Netbook

Mobile phone maker Nokia will provide the laptop market with the booklet 3G netbook, the company announced on Monday.

Weighing “around one kilogram,” the booklet 3G has a 10.1-inch display, an Intel Atom processor, Windows OS, and a battery life of up to 12 hours with normal everyday use. ”

Together with 3G HSPA conjunction with hot-swappable SIM card functionality, the netbook sports including WiFi, built-in Assisted-GPS, a Web camera and a HDMI output.

Further details on the Nokia 3G booklet is at the Nokia World 09 event on 2 September will be released.

Lenovo USB to DVI adapter promises 1080p external displays

Lenovo has quietly launched a USB to DVI display adapter on the virtual DisplayLink’s video card promising technology, that up to 1,920 x 1,200 WUXGA-A usgang – support for 1080p high-definition video – over a single USB port. Up to six of the adapter can be used (on a single computer, three, if you have a ThinkPad with switchable graphics) in addition to native machine-video outputs.

As with other systems, DisplayLink, we have seen, requires the Lenovo adapter not restart once connected, supports the full rotation (in 90-degree increments) and 8 – to 32-bit color depth. It is also supplied via the USB bus powered, so no extra power supply needed.

Currently available from its online shop from Lenovo, it’s a fairly simple way to add a few more displays to your notebook. But remember that the virtual graphics card will have an impact on your CPU power, and that impact will only increase if you add more adapters.
