Pioneer DVR-XD09 DVD Burner for Netbooks and Notebooks

Pioneer has a new lightweight DVD CD burner, which is a good companion for Netbook and notebook users who like to travel. The Pioneer DVR-XD09 is the industry ‘compact external DVD burner, a weight of eight ounces and is only a little larger than a CD case.

The Pioneer DVR-XD09 has a single USB port for data and power. Standard DVDs can store up to 4.7 GB. This new device supports dual-layer DVD-R discs for a maximum storage capacity of 8.5 GB.

The DVR-XD09 supports up to 8x write speed and read speed of 8x DVDs. CDs can be burned or read to 24x speed.

The Pioneer DVR-XD09 will begin shipping this month.

Acer to to offer Android-powered netbooks

Since the launch of Google’s G1 smartphone with Android, there is always talk that Android could be a great mobile platform for small notebooks. And with the popularity of the Netbook is Sky High – the most popular selling computers this year – there is talk that sooner or later there will be an Android-driven Netbook on the market. And it looks like Acer is goin ‘for them in a huge way.

Will ship this fall, the Acer Netbook Android is based on the Aspire One with Atom Processor and 10-inch screen. Unveiled at Computex Electronics Show last June, Acer has shown that not only the Aspire running Android, but it can also be used in a dual-boot configuration with Windows XP. This can be particularly advantageous to Android based Netbook applications online.

Acer is the first company that is a Android based Netbook with Atom processor, and the advantage that Android has a Windows configuration, it is open-source development, in a more affordable Netbook.

No word on how much the Aspire runs Android, but it will be here this fall.
