Toshiba Satellite A500, U500, L500 and L550 notebooks get official

Toshiba UK has unveiled the company the latest Satellite notebooks, the A500, U500, L500 and L550, with a screen diagonal of 13.3 inches to 17.3-inches. The laptops with 13.3-inch WXGA U500 ultra-portable, shown here with a choice of Core 2 Duo and Pentium CPU, up to 4 GB RAM, 500 GB of memory and optional ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics.

The 15.6-inch WXGA L500 comes next, with either a Core 2 Duo T6500, AMD Turion Dual-Core or Pentium T4200, up to 4 GB of RAM and 320 GB hard drive. Also it has optional HD 4570 graphics. Next is the 16-inch WXGA A500, with 2.16 GHz or 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors, up to 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB HDD, Radeon HD 4650 and graphics on selected models and an A4-sized keyboard.

Finally, the 17.3-inch WXGA L550, a 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 4 GB RAM and 500 GB hard drive, and a standard ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 GPU. Also, the A4 keyboard. All models feature a choice of WiFi, from basic b g to a g n, Bluetooth and optional.

The new Toshiba Satellite spectrum is in the UK by the end of July.

Dell Inspiron 17 laptop arrives

Dell has announced a new 17-inch notebook, the Inspiron 17, and while it is unlikely to win any prizes, either for appearance or performance, it is a serious candidate budget if you have a large screen for a small price. From $ 499, the Inspiron 17 has to choose between Intel Pentium Dual-Core or Core 2 Duo processor with 2 GB of RAM and 160 GB of storage.

The standard 17.3-inch display runs at 900p resolution, but Dell is a 1080p-capable version in September. Up to 4 GB of RAM is supported, and graphics from Intel GMA X4500HD by an ATI HD 4330 256MB and up to 512 MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330, which does not arrive back until September this year.

Elsewhere storage can Cranked up to 500 GB (even though there is no SSD option) and the standard DVD burner can also be used for a Blu-ray drive. Standard connectivity includes WiFi b g (optional draft-n and Bluetooth 2.0) along with three USB 2.0, 10 100 Ethernet, a 54mm ExpressCard slot, VGA and audio in out. A 1.3-megapixel webcam is also an option.

The batteries are 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., 9-cells (the latter starting in August) and the whole thing measures 16.4 x 10.9 x 1.2 cm and weighs from 6.8lbs with the smallest battery pack. The Dell Inspiron 17 is now available to order.
