Atom powered X50 from Shuttle

Atom powered X50 from Shuttle

One of the unexpected side effects of the Netbook revolution is the growth of low-cost all-in-one desktop computer, such as the Shuttle X50. In the past, all-in-one systems have their signals from the iMac and tried to cram the most powerful components in a computer that is barely bigger tan a typical monitor. Now we see, inter alia, Shuttle, Acer, Asus, MSI, Lenovo and the introduction of cheap all-in-ones powered by energy efficient (and cheap) Intel Atom processors.

Most of these companies offer some configuration options on these models, but shuttle goes a step further and offers a barebones version of the X50. The PC comes with a 15.6-inch screen 1366 x 768 pixel display and a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom 330 Dual-Core CPU. But you need to provide your own RAM and hard drive.

Of course, there is not much space to play with on the inside, so if you have a barebones system, the space for a specific video card, an internal TV tuner, or other components, the X50 can not be the way to go. SlashGear reports from the barebones version will be available in Europe until the end of the month.

Toshiba Qosmio G50W/95JW this July

Toshiba Qosmio G50W/95JW this July

Only in a few weeks from Toshiba is now a new model of the notebook on its shelves. Named Qosmio G50W 95JW is a very slight improvement in the G50. Qosmio G50 has been a long time before and since his first days with variations on already hard-and-model name. The Qosmio GX was planned for Christmas time bestseller lists, and now again the pleasure of G50W 95JW customers.

In fact, there is not much desire for the extra price I would say, but here are the details. And I start with what I expected to be changed, but it was not the case. G50W 95JW has the same international V.90 modem and Gigabit Ethernet LAN. Built-in 3G broadband antenna would be cool, but no. The original Qosmio G50 is still a decent GPU (NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT) and enough RAM (2 x 2,048 MB DDR2), so they remained unaffected. It seems that the producers of the G50 have things a little, because it is for the operation of Genuine Windows Vista, which always needs a bit more about the required specifications. In the future, if you install Windows 7 on G50 or G50W 95JW it will be even better.

So finally the change processor. The new Core 2 Duo T9600 running at 2.8 GHz, the 0.14GHz is faster than the previous one, and Intel PM45 Express Chipset is still there. 500GB HDD but now has an even bigger before. The price is about 3,175.00 USD. The rumors were that Qosmio G50W 95JW comes in late July, but we heard that in July, 2nd

Lenovo ThinkPad T400s 14″ Business Notebook

Lenovo ThinkPad officially announced T400s, an incredibly thin and light 14 “notebook. T400S The ThinkPad weighs less than four pounds and measures less than an inch thick, it feels even thinner and lighter.

David Critchley Lenovo first one has shown me the T400s in the last month in an early preview, and I had the option of a review unit in the last few days. I’m in the middle of writing a full review and I like everything about the T400s so far. It is fast because it uses standard-voltage Intel Core 2 Duo processors and not the low-voltage versions, which are often thin and light business notebooks.

The T400s starts at $ 1599, which is a premium over the T400, but within reach for the company and it is ranking for. Despite his slim stature, the T400s has a nice compliment of ports. On the left side of the computer is USB 2.0-port, headset port and memory card slot. On the back of the T400s have display port, a USB eSATA port, a USB 2.0 port, Ethernet port, VGA output and AC power connector. The optical drive and wireless on off switch are the only items on the right side.

Lenovo claims the primary battery holds up to six hours. Since the battery is located under the palm rest, it is impossible for an extended battery on the T400s. Instead, the optical drive can be exchanged for a second battery in a matter of seconds.

The ThinkPad T400s comes with:

  • The choice of the 2.53 GHz Intel Core processors 2Duo (standard voltage) and graphics
  • The choice of solid-state drive storage up to 128 GB or 250 GB disk storage
  • 9.5 mm thin DVD burner or Blu-ray player
  • Ethernet, optional WiFi and WiMax, WWAN, Bluetooth connectivity and ultrawideband
  • 34mm Express Card slot or 5-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader
  • Support for Lenovo ConstantConnect and Protect technology that allows users to facilitate the integration of the BlackBerry smartphone and ThinkPad notebooks
  • Almost six hours of battery life
  • Supports up to two monitors on a display port and VGA connector
  • Complies with Energy Star criteria for energy efficiency, containing 5,0
  • Built-in USB eSATA port
