Acer Aspire One 531 Netbook Review

Acer Aspire One 531 Netbook Review

Visually, the new case of the Acer Aspire One 531 is good. Not only is the flattening of the base, but also the prevailing today matte surfaces and the solid lines, please. The protruding 6-cell battery seems to be a really uncomfortable and unsightly plant, but it is almost essential for an adequate life of the battery. Also the weight of only 1220 grams, is another plus point compared to the Aspire One in the same format D150.Neither the offer nor the connectivity options built-in keyboard leave something valuable to say that differ from those in A D150. Indeed, the touchpad is a strong additional function, in comparison with the D150 is much more pleasant to use and also with its multi-touch capabilities allows simplified operation in many types of situations. Unfortunately, the pad is relatively small in our eyes, so that the multi-touch benefits are limited.

The display offers the typical Netbook working area of 1024×600 pixels in the 10.1-inch WSVGA format. Thanks to LED technology, the panel reached a good brightness and illumination. Admittedly, as usual, the reflective display surfaces are a cause for criticism. Admittedly, on the electrical supermarket around the corner that look tempting, but usually this is in fact not, when a Netbook will be used. In low light or outdoors in the sun, you learn quickly the flipside of the coin.

Acer dare not experiment with the built hardware with an Intel N280CPU and Intel GMA 950 graphics chip. Probably more than 90% of all current Netbook use components from the dominant chip giant Intel. The Aspire One 531 mainly profits from the low heat emissions of Intel components, at least in the office use the facilities a very quiet operation of mini-notebooks.

It is a shame that the 6-cell battery cramp the style of the Aspire One 531, but with the fully integrated 3-cell version of the battery life would simply be too low in comparison to the competition. With the larger battery the battery life of approximately 5 hours in the practical application of the needs of most users should Netbook actually met.

As a price for the 531 sells for about 70 .- Euros more than the Aspire One D150. Who is willing to invest in the successful design will certainly be happy with the 531st In essence, technical improvements are not to be found.
