MSI Winks at New Operating System
MSI, the Taiwanese PC company, is known for its Wind Netbook, has launched a new instant-on operating system based on the Linux kernel.
The operating system is called CIWIN in upcoming MSI Netbook and, ultimately, to a small module that plugs into the motherboard.
“CIWIN the greatest ability is how they compared to other OS supported devices,” said MSI in a statement. “
It starts faster, uses less electricity, will not have problems caused by viruses and, best of all, and no cost Customers a penny more.”
CIWIN The user interface is reminiscent of the Mac OS X. The idea with this system is to provide consumers a way to immediately turn on their PCs without experience extended boot times. The CIWIN likely to debut in a Netbook that is largely on the Web browser, photo sharing and VoIP calls.
MSI is not the only one to experiment with an instant-on OS. Phoenix Technologies offers a hyper instant on operating system, which Acer and Asus expected to appear Netbook. Despite its moniker, instant-on operating systems a few seconds to boot, but the start time for the user can up to 40% shorter than using a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer.
MSI runs CIWIN device will also work with the Firefox browser, Skype and Pidgin instant messaging software. MSI does not provide any information on when the first units CIWIN it is on the market.
