Soon, we get the first from ASUS Netbook with what many people are missing – the optical drive! Just think of the fact that even larger notebooks – such as the MacBook Air – not with an internal optical drive, and you get an impression of the great inspiration behind the step.I will be honest and I will confess that I have no idea about any other Netbook function of each type of optical drive, but if you know anything about such a miracle, do not hesitate to drop a comment. Well, here is what ASUS has to say about this – “The Eee PC 1004DN is the first in the Eee PC series consists of a Super-Multi optical disc drive, enabling users to read and write optical discs for convenient data backup”.

Kohjinsha ML6

Kohjinsha is one of these companies in the industry, I have never heard before. On the other hand, the Kohjinsha ML6 is one of these products, I will not forget, in contrast to the name of the company, which it. Why? I do not know, but it looks pretty cool to me, and despite the fact that I am not crazy about ‘cool’ gadgets, I love it!

Unfortunately, there is no secret within the Kohjinsha ML6, since most Netbook published lately seem to have the same basic features – 1.6 GHz Intel Atom, 1024×600 resolution, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, WiFi and – fortunately – Windows XP. While a battery life of over 5 hours will not help in the middle of the desert, I think there should be enough for most users.

Well, here is the list of colors for the 8.9-inch Japanese rig: black, white, gold, blue, pink and a few other colors that you can only imagine!

Samsung N110 netbook unveiled

Samsung N110 netbook unveiled

We should perhaps something was known, when the Samsung N310 starts with Inkling neither leaks today, but the company has surprised us a second time with another new Netbook. The Samsung N110 replaces the Nc10 and was already on Laptop Mag’s bench, his predecessor, was well appreciated, there is so much for the new 10.2-inch Netbook to live up to.Samsung have therefore only minor changes, the two largest are the new housing and a switch from matte to shine for 1024 x 600 display. Glare is minimal, and the Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor, GMA 945 integrated graphics and 1 GB RAM – performed by Nc10 – are enough to play 720p video.

Will the Samsung N110 really shines, though, is battery performance: It took 7 hours and 24 minutes constantly surfing the net via WiFi, higher than the Nc10 (although, thanks to the larger 5900mAh battery). It is enough for all, excellent battery life combined with low weight and excellent keyboard.

Samsung N310 Netbook

Samsung NC310 Netbook

The crux of the matter when the owner of a Netbook in the first place is that the small computer, the Internet into a truly portable form. You do not want to be tied to an electrical outlet, because that is not exactly portable anymore. Samsung knows. While most other Netbook provide two to five hours of battery life, the newly revealed Samsung N310 goes so much further with a full eleven hours computing on a single charge. It is not surprising that those with very serious reservations. The standard battery for this Netbook tops to “only” five hours, so you must use the “extended” battery, the 11-hour value.

The stylish Samsung N310 appears to be on a similar platform as the already popular Samsung Nc10, but it come with a few upgrades apart from the above batteries. You get the same 10.1-inch LCD, 160 GB HDD and 1 GB of RAM, but you also get WiFi, HSDPA, WiBro (WiMAX in Korea), Bluetooth and a 1.3 megapixel camera. There is no reference to the processor, but we assume it’s the Intel Atom diversity.

Battery life seems to be one of the great things with new Netbook these days. The Asus Eee PC 1000HE has 9.5 hours on one charge and now the Samsung N310 goes even further with its eleven hours. I imagine the basic configuration for the N310 will be in line with the competition, but it is difficult to say how much of a premium is that an “improved” battery.

Toshiba Satellite A355

The A350 notebook series is the latest 16″ notebook from Toshiba and the successor to the 15.4″ A305. This new model offers the same Look & Feel the smaller brother, and the same system configuration. In this we have a look at the configuration of the Intel A355 and find out where it leads, as well as the smaller brother.

Specifications:

  • Windows Vista Home Premium (SP1, 64-bit)
  • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P7450 (2.13GHz, 3MB L2, 1066MHz FSB)
  • 16.0″ diagonal widescreen TruBrite TFT LCD display at 1366×768 (WXGA)
  • ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 with 512MB video memory
  • Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100AGN (802.11a/g/n)
  • 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM (maximum capacity 4GB)
  • 500GB+250GB Serial ATA hard disk drive (5400RPM)
  • DVD SuperMulti (+/-R double layer) drive with Labelflash
  • 1.3 megapixel webcam
  • Harmon/Kardon stereo speakers
  • Dimensions (WxDxH): 15.1″ x 10.5″ x 1.6″
  • Weight: 6 lbs 11.6oz with six-cell battery
  • 90W (19V x 6.3A) 100-240V AC Adapter
  • 6-cell 10.8v 44Wh Lithium Ion battery

The newly updated 16″ Notebook A350 series from Toshiba is a sound artist, to all that we loved about the first generation of notebook and improvement in some areas. Power technically improved, but since Toshiba went with a smaller capacity battery, battery actually declined. The shiny surface fusion is still a scratch-resistant, as it always was, but still very vulnerable as smear. The system performance is great when compared against the non-gaming notebooks, and the dual hard drives ton of potential to open for a lot of space. One thing Toshiba should have dealt with this new model is the starting price. This means, consumers, shopping on the basis of price and specifications, we will “better” gaming machines, if they so in the vicinity of the costs.
