Intel wades into war over netbook trademark

The war, who owns the word Netbook seems to be H ting.

A few weeks back we reported on how Google has been banning the use of the term in its advertising. Dell then amplified in the confrontation with a six-page application for cancellation of the mark.

It was something like a miracle that we have not heard much from Intel on the subject – the company released Netbook uses the term when it comes to the Atom processors. Intel wades into war over netbook trademarkHowever, the chip maker has finally waded in, saying that the term is now generally by the public to describe, mini-notebooks. Intel also noted that the use of the word Netbook does not infringe any rights and Psion, that does not have exclusive rights.

It seems a little odd that Psion caused such a stir, especially since the company did not actually manufacture its devices Netbook no more, and has not done since 2003.
