Acer files patent for a keyboard-less Mobile Internet Device

acer mid Acer files patent for a keyboard less Mobile Internet DeviceIt looks like Acer could be more than a 10 inch netbook. The company has filed for a patent on a mobile Internet device or MID. There is virtually no information about the device yet. All we have are a few images with a computer that is all screen and no keyboard.

It Locos as there are a few ports, including what may be an SD card slot. But I can not tell you what kind of memory, memory, processor, or operating system are there. We do not even know how big this mobile device. It could be your run of the mill MID, or it could be a CrunchPad-style 12-inch giants.

As UMPC Portal proposes that the most interesting, perhaps not for the fact that Acer is working on a MID, but the fact that Acer has the infrastructure and know-how to mass produce these things cheaper, which means it could cost much less than the average MID.

Mouse Computer launches Illyama netbook in Japan

mouse illyama Mouse Computer launches Illyama netbook in Japan

Japanese computer dealer Mouse Computer has a new Intel Atom-based Netbook that a lot, as we have seen the last mini-laptop mouse. But in contrast to the previously announced LB-1500, the new Illyama netbook do not have an optical drive.

That is not to say that your average Netbook. Sure, it has a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1 0.2-inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, and 802.11b g WiFi, like all other children cool. But while the base model comes with 1 GB of RAM and a 160G hard drive, you can also use a mouse Illyama with 2G RAM and a 250 GB hard drive, which I am sure that the price increase a little (if no other reason than that Microsoft charges more for the Windows XP licenses on machines, this type of Oomph to them).

What can I say this Netbook is only in Japan, and possibly on eBay.

Good

1. Bright screen.

2. 13.3-inch is a good size.

Bad

1. Got 2 dead pixels.

2. 4.6 kilograms is too heavy for a 13.3-inch laptop.

3. Too thick.

4. Stupid system software.
