Ecamm announces BT-1 Bluetooth webcam for Macs

January 4th, 2009

ecamm bt1 01 02 09 Ecamm announces BT 1 Bluetooth webcam for MacsIt looks like Mac users tired of their built-in webcams and worried about the disarray caused by regular USB cameras will soon be another option to consider how Ecamm Network has just announced what it claims is that it is the world’s first Bluetooth webcam. Apparently, you can expect to see some standard 640×480 H.264 video from the case, along with 48 kHz stereo AAC audio, and a promised four hours talk time before you need to pull out that the dreaded USB cable. Not too surprisingly, you also have to pay a bit of a premium over your run-of-the-mill webcam, with the so-called BT-1 on strong demand for 150 U.S. dollars when it rolls out sometime late in the first quarter of the year. No word on the Windows-only support, but we assume that would follow shortly thereafter, officially or not.

Rumor: 17-inch MacBook Pro going unibody, no replaceable battery

January 4th, 2009

MacWorld is almost here and there is definitely less flurrying rumors about what Apple May do than usual. A rumor emerging countries has to do with updating the 17-inch MacBook Pro. The biggest MacBook was the only model not been updated in the past year and it is no surprise that Apple plans to proceed with the Unibody of all the new MacBooks. What is surprising is the rumor that this model has a non-replaceable battery a la the MacBook Air

Rumor: 17 inch MacBook Pro going unibody, no replaceable batteryI can not believe this is true as the only reason the Air has a fixed battery is due to lack of space. That is certainly not true of the large 17-inch I can not believe that Apple would be the ability to extend battery life away from the mobile workers by fixing the battery in place as the iPhone. The rumor says that Apple is using a new super-battery technology, which last much longer than in the other MacBooks. Even so, I will just say a word for the solid battery rumor, it should come to pass: FAIL.

HP’s huge concept laptop has an extra screen, moved trackpad

January 4th, 2009

hpvoodoolaptop HPs huge concept laptop has an extra screen, moved trackpad HP only shown from a new laptop pretty crazy concept, dubbed the HP Firefly with Voodoo DNA. It is a monster of a computer with a 17-inch screen and weighing in at a whopping 13 pounds. But with this size packs a lot of interesting features. For one, it has a small 4.3-inch LCD screen below the main display. It has a nice 800 x 480 resolution, but who knows what you use it for. Moreover, mingles the design by the trackpad on the right side of the keyboard and not below it, to suggest what seems to make sense. The huge laptop is a concept for now, with no plans for production, but do not be surprised if you have something in this direction from the HP later this year.
